We offer the following types of martial arts:
- Taekwondo, meaning "the way of the hand and foot," is a general term used to describe Korea's national sport. We practice Taeguk forms, traditional and Olympic sparring. We supplement these punches and kicks with self-defense techniques and conditioning and flexibility training.
- Sparring takes place in a formal atmosphere with an emphasis on etiquette and self-control as well as physical ability. Training generally is divided into the practice of basic techniques and sparring. While sparring, students stop blows just short of contact so that power is always maintained with control.
- Self defense skills are developed using building blocks from one technique to the next, so the student has a formidable range to draw from should the need arise.
- Weapons classes rotate quarterly and involve stick fighting (escrima), nunchuku, bo staff, and knife defense.
- Black Belt Club is by invitation only. Students must complete one year of training and be blue belt or higher, have good attendance, and work well with the other students. Black belt club members begin working advanced skills, develop teaching abilities, and have an environment to test new ideas.
Our instructors are all certified black belts and compete locally, regionally, and nationally in open and Olympic tournaments:
